Our day begins and ends once we have had a good cup of coffee. And we only function between those two cups if we have more coffee. For many of us, modern, hectic life has made us dependent on caffeine, and, indirectly, on good coffee makers. Imagine our excitement when we found out we would have to review the Cuisinart DCC-3200 Coffe Maker.
We have heard a lot of good reviews about this product, and it is about time we put it to the test (and had coffee at the same time). Here is a detailed Cuisinart DCC-3200 review.
- Delicious coffee flavor
- Maintains temperature and taste for a very long while
- Fully automatic = easy to use
- Has a self-cleaning feature = easy to clean
What we noticed about the Cuisinart DCC-3200 is that it is a tad bit bigger than many other coffee makers. It will take a bit of getting used to, especially if you are used to relatively compact models. You will just have to find enough storage space in your kitchen.
All in all, though, this size issue is not a big problem. We do not mind having a slightly bigger coffee maker sitting in our pantry if it means having a hot cup of delicious coffee each time.

Key Features of the Cuisinart DCC-3200
Variable Brew Strength Settings
Different days and different moods call for different types of coffee. You do not always want a strong cup. However, on some days, regular coffee tastes like water and you start looking for something stronger. The Cuisinart DCC-3200 has two coffee brewing settings to choose from: regular and bold. You do not need to tinker with the coffee maker a lot just to make it produce the kind of coffee you want. Everything is a button press away.
Fully Automatic Operation
This coffee maker offers a 24-hour programmability feature. You can set the brew time up to 24 hours in advance. That way, your coffee is ready right when you are in the mood for it.
It also has an automatic shut-off feature (up to four hours) and an optional ready alert tone. This is good news because ironically, people forget about the coffee they prepare just as much as they need and want coffee.
Having a coffee maker is only fun when it is up and running and is filled with hot, freshly brewed black coffee. When it is turned off and filthy and filled with annoying tiny residue, we wish it were cheap so we could just throw it out and buy a new and clean one. The Cuisinart DCC-3200 has a self-cleaning feature, thank heavens. You will still have to clean the unit, of course, but your cleaning time (and effort) is considerably reduced.
Bisphenol-A (BPA) is a chemical commonly found in plastic consumer goods, such as kitchen utensils, cookware, and yes, coffee makers. With recent news about the harmful effects of BPA, companies who have it in their products have kept mum. Cuisinart is proud to declare their coffee maker BPA-free, which is good, because the amount of coffee we are ingesting alone is unhealthy enough!
Brew Pause Feature
One interesting thing about the Cuisinart DCC-3200 is its brew pause functionality, which allows you to grab a cup even before it is done brewing. In case you are trying out new coffee and are still trying to find the right brewing setting to bring out its flavor, this feature may serve you well.
A Few Extras
It comes with a gold-tone coffee filter and a charcoal water filter. The carafe is an elegant one that is made of glass and has a stainless steel handle. It can hold up to 12 to 14 cups.
Cuisinart DCC-3200 vs. DeLonghi BAR32 Retro Espresso
With the DeLonghi BAR32, steam and water temperature can be controlled separately. That feature is not on the Cuisinart DCC-3200. The coffee maker from Bar32 also has a self-priming feature, which is not on the Cuisinart one despite the latter’s being fully automatic.
However, the DCC-3200 does have the advantage offered by its self-cleaning option, which the BAR32 does not have. The latter compensates for it by having fully and easily removable parts, but it is still not as good as the DCC-3200’s feature. Moreover, the steam hole of the Delonghi BAR32 is easily clogged, so you will have to clean it out frequently.
What Users Say About the Cuisinart DCC-3200
This simple but very good coffee maker seems to be a favorite among our fellow coffee lovers. If you check e-commerce sites, you will notice that it consistently gets high ratings. Most of the good reviews mention the coffee maker’s fully automatic operation, which is very convenient. People also love the taste of its coffee and how effective it is at maintaining heat without compromising the taste of the coffee.
The carafe is also frequently mentioned. You will never appreciate a good carafe until you have either had to wipe spilled coffee every single time you pour yourself some coffee, or had to pour very slowly and carefully just to keep any of your coffee from spilling. The DCC-3200’s carafe is nicely designed to prevent those scenarios from happening!
The DCC-3200 does have some negative reviews, but they appear to be mostly isolated cases. There are the usual complaints with shipping and delivery, missing parts, and parts that break easily. However, very few customers have those complaints.
Is the Cuisinart DCC-3200 Worth It?
Of course! You can’t possibly be any happier with this coffee maker. It is a simple, no-frills kind of machine but it does exactly what you expect it to. Also, it is fully automatic and has a very convenient self-cleaning feature, which are already more than what you can usually get at this price range.
The machine itself seems physically durable and sturdy enough. The reinforced materials that comprise the body should be able to withstand daily use (and abuse) and continue to work well for a long while provided the regular maintenance tasks are done.
We recommend the Cuisinart DCC-3200 to anyone who needs a practical companion to their coffee addiction. This coffee maker is a fully automatic machine that lets you brew at different settings, cleans itself, and maintains heat and holds flavor well. Overall, it gives a lot of value for money.
We have gotten so used to the inferior taste of auto-drip coffee that a lot of people are pleasantly surprised at the taste of a DCC 3200 Cuisinart coffee maker. Some reviewers are posting several years after they purchased this product, reporting that it works, heats, and brews just as well as it did on day one.
The DCC3200 is not immune from negative reviews, though. Some users comment that the parts are fragile and replacements are hard to come by. Some people think the taste of the coffee is just not worth what they spent on the machine.
However, such negative reviews are so minimal that we think it may be safe to consider those isolated. Meanwhile, taste is subjective and it ultimately boils down to the number of people who like it vs. the number of people who don’t.
